Family Affair Rattery
Family Affair Ratz

Your Subtitle text

We are a small family run rattery located in northern Pasadena. We have been dedicated hobbyists in the rat fancy game, and are now breeding from time-honored stock. Our animals are bred for personality, temperament and health. While we may at times produce show quality animals, that is not our purpose. We breed these intelligent, affectionate animals to produce loving family pets.

We believe rats are wonderful pets for anyone who is interested in them!  They are gentle, clean, intelligent, and therapeutic.  Please ask about our priority for chemo patients who want a hairless rat!

Dwarf Rats  Our dwarf rats will steal your heart!  We have a variety of colors and patterns, and have hairless and are working on double rex and harley!
Hairless Rats    Our hairless rats are the stars of the day!  We are blessed with lactating hairless lines...these are healthly babies!
Other Fancy Rats  Beautiful siamese, burmese, hooded, blazes and
                                                    the occasional tailless!

We specialize in siamese, burmese and hairless in dwarf and standard.  We are exploring rex and double rex dwarfs.
Check out our past litters to see our precious hairless dwarf babies!
New Beautiful Ratties available!
Our friends at Happy Go Lucky have gone on another rescue mission and have brought back amazing, gorgeous animals for adoption.  These animals are good natured, beautiful little critters.  They range in age from newborn to around a year (Guessing here...) and have a variety of markings and colors.  Please check them out!  Happy Go Lucky Rescues

Family Affair Rattery's May/June litters
FAR is announcing 2 small litters of dwarfies that will be available the second week of July. The father of both litters is FAR Larry, a dwarf hairless dumbo male.  FAR Lady, a standard eared black dwarf bore six pups on 5-28-10, 4 females and 2 males.  1 female, a white dumbo is available.  RRLM Pollywog bore one pup on 6-1-10.  Go to our Current litters page to check them out!

There is a waitlist for dwarfs.  If you are on the waitlist we need to be contacted in the next week or so.  If you have rats already we will not adopt out rats of the opposite sex unless you are a confirmed breeder associated with a rat group, such as CARE, AFRMA or RMCA, or unless we have worked with you before.

Looking forward:
I am working towards dwarf rexies.  My next litters will focus on developing good dwarf rexes.  I will breed another hairless litter to maintain my beautiful lactating hairless as well.  Please check this page in a few months to see if a litter is on the way!

I will occasionally adopt out retired breeders to people that have a relationship with FAR.  Let me know if you are interested and I will let you know if I have anyone that would love to live with you!

FAR Ratties for Haiti!
.  Thanks to FAR's amazing adopters, $200 was collected and sent to Mercy Corps for Haitian Relief.  Thanks!100% of the proceeds from this litter's adoption fees has been donated to Mercy Corps to help with recovery for the Haitians hurt by the earthquake

Breeders seeking FAR rats
FAR will only give breeding contracts for rats to established breeders.

WAITING LIST *
Waiting list people are required to check the new litters pages and contact me with a deposit within a week of the pics being posted.  I have had too many wait listers change their minds, and then the poor ratties miss out on amazingly good owners!  Rat babies for people on the wait list will be listed as pending, but only for one week.
Waitlisters I am working my way down the list.  I will wait two to three days from notification to hear from you.  Please let me know asap if you are still interested.

FAR always get p.o.l.
Occasionally breeders will take priority over waitlisters.
Chemo patients always take priority for hairless rats.

Ready for rats?
Please read this:

Come back when you are done!

If you have had or are currently undergoing chemo and are seeking a hairless rat (I got one during chemo and named her Alopecia!) let me know.  I'll move you up on the waiting list!  :0) God Bless!

Please remember:  Rats are social creatures that do best with a companion of the same sex.  Rats do not need to be littermates to be wonderful cagemates, so rats from different litters, even different breeders usually live together very well, especially if introduced at a young age!
